June 2, 2021 would go down in pro-wrestling history as a dark day. In an unprecedented move, WWE released prominent Superstars like Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Murphy, and more.

Needless to say, this sudden release did not sit right with fans and Superstars alike.

However, the two most prominent names on the list are undoubtedly Aleister Black and Braun Strowman. The former returned to the main roster two weeks ago under a new dark gimmick, only to be dropped.

After his initial shock, Black appeared on his wife and former WWE Superstar Zelina Vega’s Twitch channel to clear the air after his shocking release.

There, he provided a strong rebuttal to the accusations against WWE’s creative team. Instead, he blamed his release on the “slow death” over the last few years.

While he had a direction in NXT, that was lost when he came to the main roster. In fact, there were plans of him going back to the gold and black brand before he donned his new gimmick.

Apparently, his new character was set to launch this Friday on SmackDown.

Apart from his own dilemma, Black also spoke about his fellow wrestlers who were released.

“I was kinda surprised they let Braun go. Ruby, I was bummed out about,” Black said. “I was bummed out about everyone.. some of them never got a shot at anything.”

He also praised Lana’s personality and said, “She’s gonna be fine, she’ll always be fine.”

He seems to be hinting at the Ravishing Russian’s predictable and somewhat impending shift to AEW.

Apparently, there were talks of him winning the United States Championship as well, but McMahon declined as the boss did not want Black to win the title while the fans were absent in the COVID Era. Black also named Andrade as a potential future opponent.

Wrapping up on the stream, Black also revealed he had finished working upon a new theme, but someone else would use it now that he is gone. However, we are sure that an enticing character like Aleister Black would be back in the squared circle.
