First kicked off in December 2022, with 12 teams competing in 21 games, the Sophie Cunningham Classic is a three-day high school girls’ basketball tournament held in Columbia, Missouri. This tournament was founded by Cunningham to showcase talented high school girls from the Midwest and provide them with college recruiting exposure.

Tickets for the fourth annual tournament are officially live now, with the event set for January 9–11 in Cunningham’s hometown. This year’s Classic is already drawing added attention thanks to a boosted sponsor lineup, led by Adidas, one of Cunningham’s own endorsement partners, now stepping in as a primary backer for the 2026 edition.

In previous years, the Sophie Cunningham Classic has also partnered with companies like Commerce Bank, which supported the 2025 event with financial-literacy programming for participating athletes. At the time, Cunningham emphasized why that kind of education matters, saying, “I think financial education is hugely important… Having the participation of a company like that is super special to me.”

Now, as the tournament grows year after year, so does the imprint she’s leaving on the future of girls’ basketball. For the athletes headed to Columbia this January, the stage has never been brighter.

What all is Sophie Cunningham doing in her offseason?

The 2025 WNBA season was cut short by a knee injury for the Fever star. Cunniingham only played in 30 games, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 25.2 minutes per game, before she tore the MCL in her right knee in August, which required season-ending surgery. However, her offseason has been anything but quiet.

Just some time ago, she joined Clark and Lexie Hull at The Annika Pro-Am, stepping into the role of a celebrity caddie, where she even hit a bystander after channeling her inner “Happy Gilmore”. She is also building her media presence through her new weekly podcast, “Show Me Something,” produced with The Volume. In the show, she and co-host West Wilson dive into everything from sports to pop culture, offering fans a more personal side of Sophie Cunningham.

Now, with her tournament gearing up for its biggest year yet, the Fever star is turning an injury setback into a full-on offseason takeover by staying present, staying involved, and making sure her influence is felt long before she’s back in uniform.
