2025 was packed with standout moments for Angel Reese. She won Unrivaled as the Defensive Player of the tournament, rewrote rebounding records, made her Hollywood debut, and even walked the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

So, as expected, fans showed up in numbers. Reese’s post sparked plenty of reactions, with many already looking ahead to what the new year might hold for the Chicago Sky star.

Social Media Reacts to Angel Reese’s New Year Tweet

Reese’s list of 2025 achievements left fans in awe. “Very outstanding credentials Angel. Congratulations 👏🏾👏🏾,” one fan wrote. Another summed it up perfectly: “All in 365 days ???? Her life is on 5x speed ! 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐.”

We all remember the level of criticism Angel Reese faced early in the 2025 WNBA season. Those first six games were especially brutal. Out of her 61 field-goal attempts, 44 came from the restricted area, the shots she is usually known for converting with ease. And yet, the results were shocking. Her efficiency in that zone was just 31.8 percent, according to CBS Sports.

Reese led the league with 7.3 shot attempts per game from the restricted area during that stretch, but her efficiency was the lowest among the top 10 players taking at least five shots there. That is how rough the opening weeks of the season were for her, and why the criticism was so loud at that time.

What started with online criticism quickly turned into a statement season. After early shooting struggles, Angel Reese finished the year shooting 45.8 percent, the best of her career, while dominating the glass with a league-high 12.6 rebounds per game.

Reese went on to set the record for most double-doubles to start a WNBA career, became the fastest player in league history to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, and etched her name into history again as the second-youngest player ever to record a triple-double.

Oh, and did we even get to her off-court wins this year?

  • Angel Reese made history by becoming the first female athlete to get her own McDonald’s meal. The launch of “The Angel Reese Special” featured a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese, fries, and a drink
  • Angel Reese was also featured as the cover athlete on a limited-edition box of Reese’s Puffs, becoming the first female athlete ever to appear on the cereal’s packaging.
  • Reese also took her star power to the Met Gala, joining the 2025 host committee alongside Simone Biles and Sha’Carri Richardson for the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
  • Reese landed the WNBA cover of NBA 2K26, succeeding A’ja Wilson and adding yet another first to her resume.
  • Angel Reese debuted her Reebok signature sneaker, the Angel Reese 1, becoming the fastest WNBA player in two decades to earn a signature shoe.

“And may you keep on receiving over the critics and the haters👌🏾✌🏾,” another fan said. For all the “mebounds” jokes Angel Reese had to endure about grabbing her own misses, she finished the season with 254 defensive rebounds, a staggering 131 more than her total offensive rebounds.

And Angel being Angel, she even trademarked the term “mebounds,” and turned it into merchandise. Even better, a portion of the proceeds from that merch was announced to go to her foundation to support kids dealing with cyberbullying. Typical Angel Reese. A real source of inspiration.

Another fan wished Reese a healthy year ahead, saying, “Sincere congrats on your success in 2025 Angel, I wish you a healthy and happy 2026.”

Injuries were a recurring theme for Angel Reese this season, as she missed 14 games due to leg and back issues. Even her rookie campaign ended early after a wrist injury cut it short. If Reese truly wants to elevate in 2026, staying healthy will be the biggest key.

Lastly, no Angel Reese post seems complete without a bit of backlash. And this one was no different. One critic jumped in with, “You’re definitely not an All-Star. Just shows how bad the @WNBA is.”

That debate is not going anywhere. With the Chicago Sky missing the playoffs in both of Reese’s seasons so far, questions around her All-Star credentials will continue to fuel discussion across the WNBA. However, that really cannot take away much from her individual dominance.
