For most of us, Christmas means being at home with family and loved ones. While NBA players are still busy playing games, WNBA stars get a chance to relax and enjoy the holidays. But ever wondered how they actually celebrate the holidays? Paige Bueckers just gave us a little glimpse.

In an exclusive interview with the New York Post, Paige Bueckers opened up about how she spent Christmas growing up in Minnesota.

“I’m excited to get to spend the holiday with my family,” Bueckers said. “We put up the Christmas tree together and play a ton of board games and card games. Some of my family’s favorites are Skyjo, Uno, Sorry!, and Yahtzee.”

Beuckers continued, “We also watch seasonal movies. “Elf” is probably my favorite. Some of my favorite dishes are creamed corn, mashed potatoes, Snickers salad, and honey ham. I do not prepare any of the dishes, but I’m still confident I can get it done!”

We’ve seen this offseason keep plenty of W stars busy. Caitlin Clark was out on the golf course, while Paige herself has been spotted at NFL and NBA games as she continues to build a connection with the city of Dallas. But this festive period has always been special for her, and she’s never shied away from sharing what it truly means to her.

When she tore her ACL at UConn, it was her dad who helped pull her out of the dark moments that came with it, lifting her spirits with a special gift that she still uses to this day.

“My dad and his girlfriend got me a foot massager for Christmas,” Bueckers said. “The brand is Cloud Massage. It really helped with my recovery after I tore my ACL the summer before my junior year. I still use it for rest and recovery now.”

For Paige, the holidays aren’t just about relaxing with the people closest to her. They’re also a moment to reflect on how far she’s come in her basketball journey. And she’s been through it all, from the highs of winning National Player of the Year as a freshman to the lows of a tibial plateau fracture, a torn ACL, a sprained knee, and even a heartbreaking championship loss.

Her WNBA career has had its share of highs and lows, too. She went from winning Rookie of the Year to finishing at the bottom after managing just 10 wins in a 44-game season. But Paige isn’t one to sit around and sulk; her family won’t let her. Instead, we’ll see her back in action as early as next month, with the new season of Unrivaled set to begin.

Paige Bueckers excited to play in Unrivaled

Ahead of the WNBA Draft, it emerged that Paige had signed a three-year deal with the 3-on-3 league Unrivaled. And it made perfect sense. According to ESPN, Bueckers’ first-year salary for the 10-week Unrivaled season will exceed what she would make across all four years of her WNBA rookie contract.

Now, the time has finally come to see her in action in Unrivaled, as a new chapter begins for Paige with Breeze BC. Under former Storm coach Noelle Quinn, she’s excited to link up with her new teammates and see what this next chapter brings.

“I love playing any kind of basketball,” Bueckers said. “The WNBA off-season is pretty long, so this is an exciting opportunity. We have a very intriguing young squad that I can’t wait to play with.”

Breeze BC will also feature the likes of Cameron Brink, Dominique Malonga, Rickea Jackson, Aari McDonald, and Kate Martin, and on paper, they’re already making a strong case to be the best team in the league in Year 1. It’ll be especially fun to watch the pick-and-roll between Brink and Paige, something many in L.A. thought they’d see on a daily basis before the Wings ended up with the No. 1 pick.
