But even during the offseason, the Chi-Town Barbie continues to make headlines – especially now that fans are linking her to Orlando Magic forward Wendell Carter Jr. So is it all chatter, or is something actually happening?

Who Is Angel Reese’s Rumored Boyfriend, Wendell Carter Jr.?

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Wendell Carter Jr. is an American basketball player. He comes from a proud African American family deeply rooted in basketball. His father, Wendell Carter Sr., played collegiate basketball at Delta State University, and his mother, Kylia Carter, played at the University of Mississippi.

So, he has basketball in his genes. But apart from that, having parents from a sports background helped him to grow. “If what Wendell is now is something you aspire to for your son, the main thing is that you have to know who your child is,” his mother had said. Well, she and her husband did exactly that for Carter Jr. With that support, Carter excelled on the court and in the classroom, ultimately choosing Duke over Harvard. 

At Duke, he finished second all-time among Blue Devil freshmen in rebounds (335), blocked shots (76), and double-doubles. He even earned Second-Team All-ACC honors and was named ACC Rookie of the Week three times. And, after a strong freshman campaign, he declared for the NBA Draft and was selected No. 7 overall in 2018.

Wendell Carter Jr.’s NBA Career

Ever since getting drafted, Carter Jr has played for two teams, Chicago and Orlando. He has appeared in 383 NBA regular-season games with 345 starts. Across these games, he has averaged 11.9 points and 8.3 rebounds so far. While he started his career with Chicago, something similar to Reese, he was traded back in 2021.

He arrived at Orlando in a package that included him, Otto Porter Jr., and two future first-round picks in exchange for Al-Farouq Aminu and Nikola Vučević. Last season, he played 68 games with 51 starts for the Magic. He averaged 9.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 25.9 minutes per game. Well, just like his “homie”, Carter Jr. also impacts the game with scoring and rebounding. 

He ranked 29th in the NBA in rebounds and led the team in scoring twice, in rebounding 25 times, and in assists five times. He also scored in double figures 30 times. So yes – he brings real impact on the court. But is he actually committed to Angel Reese?

What Did Wendell Carter Jr. Actually Say?

Appearing on Run It Back on 17th November, Carter set social media ablaze when he said, “That’s the homie for sure. We locked in… That’s my girl, though.” It’s not a full public confirmation, but it’s the closest fans have gotten so far. And Carter hinted that people “will find out soon enough.” It’s “enough” for fans to quickly begin connecting the dots. 

Well….Carter wore an Angel Reese T-shirt during the WNBA All-Star break. The two posed courtside together. They exchanged comments that many called flirtatious online. Reese posted photos in Orlando gear. And who can forget her repost of Carter’s dunk and a collage captioned “boo” that only intensified speculation? But wait….the biggest evidence is yet to come.

What Has Angel Reese Said About the Rumors?

Since her breakup with Cam’Ron Fletcher, confirmed in March 2024, Reese has stayed private about her dating life. But now, it seems she may be taken, according to her own words. The Chicago Sky star, who has walked a Victoria’s Secret runway and launched her own signature Reebok shoe, announced this with a not-so-subtle post.

She shared a screenshot of a tweet that read: “ion post my boo or my money just know i got both.” She then captioned her carousel,  “rebranding & yes, i got both.” So, yes, that’s it. And honestly, her decision not to reveal the person’s identity also makes sense. She has spoken before about how draining public speculation can be.

In 2024, she posted: “Now I see why people hide relationships & keep everything private… like I don’t think I’ll ever openly share that part of my life with y’all again until I’m married cause y’all do THE MOST!”  She added in a statement, “It will literally have to be all assumptions & speculations cause absolutely NOT.”

So while she may have found her match, she may also want to keep that part of her life away from the spotlight – at least for now.
