The official Instagram page for the Olympics shared a carousel of visuals on its profile. The pictures showcased Biles inspiring the young gymnasts in the city. In fact, each post carried a message that the Olympian conveyed during the conference. She said, “Sometimes, we can’t fix all the problems ourselves and we need to outsource help.” Having suffered from the ‘twisties’, she knows the difficulty levels of managing mental issues alone.
Her next message was, “Everyone deserves to get help.” She addressed the stigma around seeking support during hard times. And she confirmed that even legends sometimes need help. Asking for help, according to her, is “strong and courageous.” The gymnast further mentioned that prioritizing her mental health was what helped her make history in Paris. “That’s why you saw so much of my success in Paris, because the mental and the physical were right on par,” she explained. “They were right on track with each other, so I think that’s really, really important.”
