The Pittsburgh Steelers face the Los Angeles Chargers in a Week 10 clash. Sitting at 5-3, Aaron Rodgers and Co. are coming off a strong win against the Colts. Though the Steelers are in a pretty comfortable position, their head coach, Mike Tomlin, has a stern warning for the roster ahead of the game against the Chargers.

On The Mike Tomlin Show, he was asked whether there is a change in the strategy before facing the Chargers, led by Greg Roman, because of the injuries. “I guess that’s a complex question because the answer to that question is how does it change their strategy?” Tomlin said. “Having gone against Greg Roman a lot over the years, it’s probably less significant for him. They have a unique running game, a unique commitment to the running game. They have unique ways of attacking you that doesn’t isolate offensive tackles. He’s going to run the football. He’s got quarterback mobility. Certainly, Herbert is an issue from that perspective. He’s got a full complement of eligibles.”
With this message, Tomlin highlighted the threat the Chargers pose to Aaron Rodgers & his teammates. It does not matter if the Chargers are facing mounting injuries in their squad; they have all the capability to harbor them. He believes that they will certainly spread you out, and when they do, a lot of times it’s very quick. So he’s warning his team not to take them lightly.

Tomlin’s comments ring with great respect for the Chargers’ offensive coordinator and this team’s overall balanced offensive structure. Tomlin also pointed out how Roman’s offense “challenges you schematically in ways that others don’t.”
The Chargers’ offense has averaged 23.9 points per game. With Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater out, the Chargers will now rely on Trey Pipkins III, Jamaree Salyer and Austin Deculus. And their quarterback has full confidence in them. On the other side, the Steelers’ margin for error-especially with playoff positioning starting to tighten-isn’t wide. As Tomlin put it, “He’s going to be strategic about that component of the matchup.” Against a team that punishes lapses, Tomlin’s words are as cautionary as they serve as a rallying cry.
Chargers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman doubled down on it: “I look at it as a great challenge and I like how our guys are approaching it. I think we can get this thing done.”

Ahead of the trade deadline, the Steelers were hot and heavy in pursuit of Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Talks broke down due to the steep asking price required by Miami, reportedly a first-round pick or more. With Rodgers under center and playoff hopes alive, Tomlin must resort now to patching the roster internally rather than adding a proven offensive weapon.

Mike Tomlin’s roster changes following the trade deadline
While the trade deadline had no beneficial trade for the Steelers. The team added running back Trey Sermon from the practice squad. He has logged 28 snaps. They also activated linebacker Mark Robinson, who has played 44 career games. The practice squad also welcomed back defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal.
Leal has appeared in 31 career games with six starts and has played in three this season. His return adds depth to a defensive front that’s been effective but stretched thin by recent attrition.
Isaac Seumalo will be missing out on this game. He played against the Colts but was replaced in the fourth quarter. In eight games, he has played 414 offensive snaps, allowing only one hit and two sacks. As such, Spencer Anderson will be stepping in. He has played in his place for the last two games. Anderson has played 107 snaps of offense this season with no sacks allowed.

Historically, the Steelers lead the series with 25-11. Even in the last three games, the Steelers have won two of them. However, adding to the intrigue, the Steelers have been 2-1 on the road this season, and the Chargers have been 3-2 at home. So it will be riveting to watch who will come out victorious from this clash.
