The Kansas City Chiefs sit at 2-2 heading into their Week 5 primetime showdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football (October 6). Their latest outing wasn’t close. Kansas dismantled Baltimore 37-20, giving Andy Reid a milestone night to remember. That game marked his 200th regular-season appearance as the Chiefs’ head coach, and more importantly, his 145th victory at the helm.

For a man already considered one of the greats, the accolades just keep stacking. The good news doesn’t stop there. Wideout Xavier Worthy made his return from injury, bolstering a room that will soon welcome Rashee Rice back from suspension. That injection of talent has fans buzzing as Reid eyes his 146th win with Kansas City.
But as the week’s practices kicked off, the HC downplayed concerns. A post on X revealed the coach revealed “he’s got no injury updates to report as the practice week gets underway.” Speaking to reporters, the HC also acknowledged the unique challenge of balancing his offense now that Mahomes has so many capable weapons. “I mean, there’s one ball,” Reid said. “The guys know that. As long as you stay humble with it and don’t get that hungry thing where you start wanting it and then don’t play. The guys have done a great job. They’re all good buddies, and they’re kind of pulling for each other.”

It’s a real test of chemistry, but Kansas City’s roster seems equipped for it. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, the former first-round pick, has settled into a supporting role and currently leads the team with 32 targets in three weeks. Behind him are Travis Kelce (22), Tyquan Thornton (20), and JuJu Smith-Schuster (18), each finding ways to contribute. Thornton, once cut loose by the Patriots, is thriving with a fresh start, while JuJu is trying to reclaim his spot in the rotation.

With Worthy logging eight targets in his return and Rice expected to replicate his 2024 breakout, the distribution puzzle is only getting tougher. Still, Reid insists his locker room understands the bigger picture. Ahead of their Week 4 clash with Baltimore, the Chiefs elevated two players from the practice squad. A quiet roster shuffle amid bigger headlines. The loudest of those? Patrick Mahomes was officially named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week on October 1.
For Mahomes, it’s recognition that comes with responsibility. The message is clear: the Chiefs have the weapons, but it’s discipline and unity that will carry them deeper into the season.
Andy Reid’s Chiefs hit milestones as Jaguars await test
Patrick Mahomes knows what’s coming. Speaking ahead of Monday’s showdown, the Chiefs QB pointed to Jacksonville’s defense as a major test. “They’re very fundamentally sound… They’re causing the turnovers… We’ll have to make sure we’re fundamentally sound as well,” he said.
The Chiefs’ official Instagram account celebrated his latest achievement after the Baltimore win: “A dominant performance. Congrats to Patrick Mahomes on being named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.”
That honor came with history. Mahomes became the youngest player in NFL history to throw 250 career touchdown passes. Doing it at 30 years and 11 days old. Moreover, four of those scores came in the Ravens game alone. A reminder of just how dangerous he remains at the height of his powers.

But the Jaguars aren’t limping in. They’ve started the season strong and bring a defensive unit that could give Mahomes trouble. One key storyline to watch: pass rusher Travon Walker’s health. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the former No. 1 overall pick saw a specialist for a wrist injury he suffered last week. While the injury isn’t considered season-ending, Fowler noted a source classified Walker as “week-to-week,” leaving his status for Monday night in doubt.
If Walker can’t go, it changes the matchup entirely. His presence or absence could be the swing factor in how easily Mahomes and Andy Reid’s offense moves the ball.
