“I shared this news with our team this morning,” Singleton captioned his post on Instagram. “I’m grateful for everyone’s support and can’t wait to get back on the field soon! Go Broncos!”

The post featured Alex Singleton’s photo in his uniform, with a heartfelt message beside it. The player got the diagnosis a week earlier, during a routine NFL drug test that showed issues such as “elevated levels of the hormone hcG.”

This was only after four games into the season. He explained that the test results convinced him to get further testing. That is when he decided to meet with urologist Dr. Andrew Zilavy, who confirmed the signs of a testicular tumor.

In a press conference earlier, Alex Singleton also opened up on how he managed to put aside his cancer diagnosis and still play against the Raiders, saying, “football’s always been an outlet for me.”

Just hours after leading the Broncos to their seventh straight win with nine tackles, he underwent surgery to remove the tumor. A CT scan later showed the cancer hadn’t spread, giving him relief and hope. Now, Singleton says he wants to use his experience to raise awareness about early testicular cancer screening. In fact, his teammate Justin Strnad, who’s stepping in for him, praised Singleton’s toughness and spirit.

“He’s the ultimate competitor, ultimate team player. He had the knee (surgery) last year. He’s been through a lot in this league and this is obviously a big obstacle, but he’s going to overcome it and we’re all going to be here to help him through it.”

For now, it seems Singleton will be able to return this season. But he will miss the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 and get some more rest during the team’s bye Week. The franchise has also stressed the co-captain and lead tackler’s complete recovery.

“Our No. 1 priority is Alex’s health and well-being, and we are grateful it appears the cancer was caught early,” the Broncos wrote on X.

Even his teammates, like cornerback Pat Surtain II and linebacker Nik Bonitto, including former NFL players such as Kareem Jackson, Rodney McLeod Jr., and many more, commented on Singleton’s IG post, praying for his healing.

Singleton, in return, had a special message to express gratitude to the fans and the support he received from the Broncos. He also gave a nod to the Broncos’ owners, Greg and Carrie Penner. Moreover, he didn’t forget to mention the vice president of player health & performance, Beau Lowery, Vince Garcia, Rich Hurtado, and George Paton for their immediate action in helping him out with all the tests after his diagnosis.

“Sean Payton and VJ  (Vance Joseph), who have been absolutely great and incredibly supportive,” his post read. “My agent Paul Sheehy, who has supported me and helped me navigate this situation. And of course, my wife Sam, who was with me every step of the way. She is truly the strongest person I know.”

The support from the teams and fans has been invaluable for Singleton right from the beginning. He shared, the Broncos were quick to provide support in his treatment. The franchise helped him get an appointment with Dr. Geoff Ledgerwood, who confirmed the diagnosis with the help of an ultrasound.

Now, fans have jumped into the comment section, praying and wishing for his speedy recovery.

Fans sharing exactly the vibe Alex Singleton needs

“Sending positive thoughts your way! We can’t wait to see you back on the field,” the official IG page of the NFLPA wrote below the post.

Another one shared the same sentiment: “Positive thoughts only.”

Even with all the support, it was a tough time for the linebacker. At that time, it was football and the games that distracted him from the worries of the surgery and kept him motivated.

“Prayers my guy,” another wrote below Singleton’s post, which shared more details about his diagnosis and the time before his surgery.

Balancing appointments while preparing for the game wasn’t easy. But it’s not surprising that Singleton managed it all. Even back in 2024, when he sustained a season-ending ACL tear in Week 3, he reportedly pushed himself to play through the injury in the game. He also fractured his thumb during the training camp this year.

That speaks volumes about his dedication to the sport. This is his seventh season in the league, and he has recorded 5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles so far. Despite the struggle, he hopes to be back to contribute more to the team.

“Prayers up bro! Sending love,” another comment read, while one wrote, “Sending positive thoughts for a fast recovery!”

But this post wasn’t just about him sharing his story. It was also meant to raise awareness that this topic needs to be discussed more openly. He talked about how early detection and regular screenings can save lives. His post will also urge people to come forward and share their stories.
