The offensive struggles were evident in the Buffalo Bills’ shocking 30-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins. And head coach Sean McDermott didn’t hide his disappointment as he addressed the issues, especially the offense. Soon, the Bills’ offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who handled the offense, seemingly responded to the criticism.

During the press conference, Brady explained that the team was more “efficient” in passing than in the run game.
“Honestly, if I can go back in the game, I would have thrown the ball earlier more,” he said. “I felt like that was the thing we had going for us early in the game. We fell behind the chains in the run game early in the game. I should have got to the pass game a little earlier because we were a little more efficient passing the ball than we were running the ball.”

The Bills struggled early in the game and managed just 23 rushing yards on eight attempts in the first half, while quarterback Josh Allen went 9-for-15 for 73 passing yards. And the team took a major hit in the second half when tight end Dalton Kincaid went down with a hamstring injury.
Now, while speaking of the offense, coach McDermott called out that the offense needs to be balanced and have a consistent running game.

“We’ve got a great quarterback, and we want to be able to move the ball two-dimensionally. And, you know, we should be able to move the ball with Josh through the air. But it can’t just be one phase of your offense,” McDermott said.
So, there appears to be a contradiction between the two coaches. And this isn’t the first time either.

After the Bills’ 40-9 win over the Carolina Panthers, coach Sean McDermott stressed improving the team’s passing game. However, Joe Brady defended his game plan, insisting that the passing attack wasn’t an issue. But he didn’t directly respond to his coach’s critique.
Cut to the present, the Bills’ offense continues to struggle, and many are beginning to question coach Brady’s play-calling. Yet, these issues and criticisms haven’t shaken Coach McDermott’s faith in his offensive coordinator.

Sean McDermott defended Joe Brady after offensive issues
The rumors grew louder than ever after the New York Giants fired coach Brian Daboll. However, HC McDermott assured that he is confident in Brady and his staff.
“Joe’s a good coach,” he told the reporters. “You’re going to have some games you want back, some play calls you want back. It’s how you respond to them, and I’m fully confident in our offensive staff, and Joe as our leader, that we will make the adjustments we need to make and move us forward.”
But it remains to be seen if coach McDermott takes over the playcalling duties, which he has in the past. As for now, he added that the entire team, including the QB, has complete faith in the staff and “Joe in particular.” Now, there were shocking issues in the game against the Dolphins that the Bills will need to fix if they wish to improve their standing in the AFC East standings.

Dolphins were easily able to keep the Bills scoreless for the first three quarters. This is the third time during Allen’s career. He threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns but had an interception and a fumble.
Apart from this, the team had two more costly turnovers, which Allen called a “recipe for disaster.” He added that the team will need to be better in every aspect, and that includes the “protection game,” “pass game,” and “run game.”
Dealing with multiple injuries, the offense must get back on track quickly if it hopes to make a run at the AFC East title.
