While gearing up for Week 18, Deommodore Lenoir was sure to let the NFL fans know that he was ready for the matchup against the Seattle Seahawks’ WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. On the other hand, Cowboys legend Troy Aikman criticized the idea that he stood a chance. Now, following the 49ers‘ 13-3 win over the Seahawks, Lenoir became known for the wrong reasons. The cornerback took his frustration to social media, but immediately deleted the post after venting out.

“Y’all think I give a f*ck what Troy Aikman has to say” posted Deommodore Lenoir on Instagram, via MLFootball on X. “Clearly his eyes rollin in the back of his head when the game is on. Y’all show me where 11 gave me work. Post every route every matchup”

Deommodore Lenoir will have a hard time forgetting the game against the Seahawks. He finished with 3 combined tackles and 1 tackle for loss, with no touchdowns allowed credited to him and no explosive plays clearly pinned on his coverage. The biggest blemish was the defensive pass interference penalty in the first quarter at the goal line. That was costly in terms of field position and directly extended Seattle’s opening drive.

Although unfortunate, Aikman’s predictions came through.

“Lenoir talked about matching up with Smith-Njigba. I thought it was pretty funny,” said Troy Aikman, via MLFootball on X. “He hasn’t matched up with anybody all year.”

Despite the performance, saying that the CB has made no contributions to the 49ers’ defense was perhaps a little harsh from the former Super Bowl winner. This season, Lenoir completed 61 tackles, with 39 solo tackles and two interceptions. While it does not count as impressive, it is not particularly bad either.

In the final game of the regular season, the Seattle Seahawks triumphed over San Francisco in every aspect, holding the latter to a field goal. With the win, the Seahawks confirmed their top seed for the playoffs.

The first game of Week 18 was a clash between the second-best scoring defense and the hottest offense. The Seahawks won the game while being on the road. But it was just not a win, but closing out the 49ers in every aspect.

For the past three games, Brock Purdy’s team had scored at least 37 points in each game, but this game saw them getting held back to a field goal. Purdy was in form, entering the game with 10 TDs in the last couple of games. Despite the record, he ended the game by completing 19-of-27 passes for 127 yards, throwing an interception.

Under head coach Mike MacDonald, the Seahawks have flourished when on the road. Following Week 18’s victory, they improved their record to 15-2 under him, improving their away game record to 8-1.

As the Seahawks clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC, they earned a bye week and home advantage. It will be interesting to see how things go for the Seahawks, especially since another Seahawks-49ers game might be in store if the latter win their next two games in the playoffs. If that happens, Deommodore Lenoir may have another crack at covering Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
