Cam Skattebo hasn’t played a snap in weeks. But somehow, he still managed to shake up the NFL conversation without even touching a football. The New York Giants’ rookie running back popped up on this week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw inside Madison Square Garden after he shared that he regained full ankle and toe movement following his ankle injury. But critics pounced immediately, blasting his actions, which still received support from Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia

Cam Skattebo was involved in a ‘scripted altercation’ on Raw during one of the commercial breaks. This did not sit well with retired All-Pro safety T.J. Ward didn’t care. He ripped the rookie like he’d just jeopardized the entire Giants offense. So on November 18, Diego Pavia shared a post by Bleacher Report on his Instagram story featuring the social media beef between T.J. Ward and Cam Skattebo. And he added his honest thoughts in four simple words. “LET A MF LIVE❗❗” A QB defending a RB he’s never played with. Classic college-football-guy energy. So what exactly happened?

The altercation started right after Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio put his hands on comedian Andrew Schulz, who was sitting next to the Giants’ RB. Thus, Skattebo stepped in to defend Schulz. At the same time, the rest of the Judgment Day, Finn Bálor, and J.D. McDonagh stepped in. Some of the other members of the Giants’ roster, who were also in attendance, stepped in. Then a fight broke out. Following this altercation, WWE released a Cam Skattebo-themed merchandise, making it even more evident that this segment was planned as a form of ‘Sports Entertainment.’

After which, T.J. Ward took to X to say, “This how you make sure you have a short NFL career.” Cam Skattebo then posted a mouthful directly to the critics. “Aye, honestly, if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say,” he wrote. And fans turned the backlash into a comedy show.

One fan wrote, “Participating in a scripted scene that required zero wrestling? Wait until you find out… IT’S NOT REAL.” WWE is a spectacle, not street fighting. Celebrities do make an appearance during WWE shows, and more often than not they get involved in some way. Especially in the Triple H era, this has been a common occurrence. This most likely will be a planned segment, a way to pull in more viewers. In the past, WWE has had athletes like, George Kittle, Rob Gronkowski, Wayne Rooney, Tyrese Haliburton, and many more. Which makes you wonder why Cam Skattebo was singled out for getting involved. And this small WWE segment somehow set the stage for something bigger.

Diego Pavia is the Cam Skattebo of QBs

If there’s one college QB built to defend a guy like Cam Skattebo, it’s Diego Pavia. The Vanderbilt star has become one of the sport’s most talked-about players, leading the No. 14 Commodores through another riveting season with a playmaking style similar to the Giants’ RB himself.

Diego Pavia’s fearless approach earned him a viral comparison during Vandy’s showdown with No. 10 LSU. Rivals/On3 reporter Hayes Fawcett posted, “Someone said Diego Pavia is the Cam Skattebo of QBs, and I can’t unsee it now.” Fans loved it. The senior QB has been the heartbeat of Vanderbilt’s resurgence. He dragged the Commodores to national relevance for the first time since 2013. And he’s doing it with impressive numbers. 2,440 passing yards, 613 rushing yards, and 27 total touchdowns before Week 13.

Coming off a bye week, Diego Pavia’s last outing was an overtime thriller. He racked up 377 passing yards, three touchdowns, and another 112 on the ground in a comeback win over Auburn that kept Vandy’s CFP hopes alive at 8-2. And now, he’s not just the Commodores’ leader, he’s the guy who told the football world to relax and let Cam Skattebo live. Because at the end of the day, both play football and live life the same way. Do you see similarities between Pavia and Cam Skattebo?
