After two weeks of online strays and pointing fingers and calling out each other about business ethics and morales, Disney and YouTube ended their 14 days blackout. Disney and YouTube TV found their middle ground to bring back big-channels back to the Google-owned live platform today.

On November 11th, YouTube TV hopped onto X and made their announcement of their new deal with Disney Plus: “We’re happy to share that we’ve reached a deal with Disney to bring their content back to YouTube TV. Subscribers should see channels including ABC, ESPN, and FX returning to their service over the course of the day. Thanks for your patience and for being a valued member.”
The dispute was all about money, with both sides wanting a deal that worked for them. But in the end, they found a way to agree and get everyone’s favorite shows and sports back on the air.

The main reason for all the drama was that their old contract expired. When companies like Disney and YouTube TV negotiate new deals, they sometimes can’t agree on the licensing fees. Both sides tried to play their cards to reach a new contract on terms that favored them. Disney tried to bargain with the idea of ‘Content is king’. YouTube TV said, ‘That’s not how it’s going to work.’
In this case, that meant Disney pulled all its channels from YouTube TV’s lineup. This isn’t super unusual in the TV world, but it’s always annoying for the paying customers caught in the middle. The blackout affected a lot of people who were especially upset about missing A-tier college football games from Week 11.

Luckily, the newly sorted-out deal brings back all the channels that went missing, including ABC, ESPN, FX, the Disney Channel, and more. So, you can finally catch up on all the content you missed. As a bonus, it seems the deal also includes some sweet perks for sports fans. YouTube TV subscribers will get free access to ESPN Unlimited, which is a new streaming service from Disney, once it’s available. This is a great win for anyone who loves sports.
To make up for the inconvenience, YouTube TV even tried offer its customers a $20 credit on their next bill. It was a nice gesture to apologize for the disruption and for everyone’s patience while the big companies fought it out. With the new deal, everything is back to normal, and you can get back to watching your favorite Disney and ESPN content. Does that mean college football back for week 12?

Is ABC back for week 12 of college ball??
Short answer: Yes, ABC is officially back on YouTube TV just in time for the Week 12 college football games. YouTube TV made it pretty clear on X about the college football: “We are pleased that our networks have been restored in time for fans to enjoy the many great programming options this weekend, including college football.”
This means you can go back to watching all the games on ABC and ESPN without any issues. While the blackout was a bit of a pain, especially for those missing college football, everything is back to normal now.

WTVM insider Jason Daniels announced the new agreement, confirming that all channels and coverage are back on YouTube TV. According to him, the viewers will have access to their regular programming, just in time for tonight’s 11 p.m. news. The resolution means subscribers no longer have to worry about missing their favorite shows or live events.
The timing couldn’t be better, as a full slate of Week 12 college football returns tomorrow. The schedule includes Notre Dame vs. Pitt at noon, Alabama vs. Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m. ET, and Texas vs. Georgia at 7:30 p.m. Thank god, these two companies finally came to terms on licensing fees. Hopefully, it’ll be a long time before we have to go through that again!
