Whenever the schedule for the upcoming season is announced, we usually mark our calendars for a few storyline fixtures. November 24th was supposed to be the day one such fixture was to be played between the Houston Rockets and the Phoenix Suns, as it marked the homecoming of the Slim Reaper–Kevin Durant. However, it might no longer be the case.

This comes after news broke that the veteran superstar will not only miss tonight’s highly anticipated clash against the Suns, but also Wednesday’s NBA Cup matchup against another of his former teams, the Golden State Warriors. It goes without saying that this is a bummer, but KD isn’t missing these games because of a court-related issue.

On the contrary, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the two-time NBA champion is tending to a family matter because of which he won’t be able to suit up in the upcoming games. As expected, the fans are disheartened by this news, as they even sent prayers to Kevin Durant and his family. However, it’s not just them who will miss KD, as even Devin Booker wanted to match up against his former teammate.

The Phoenix guard sent out an emphatic message to Durant when asked about what he feels regarding this situation. “I hope everything is okay with his family first. We all love to match up with him,” Booker told the reporters. KD’s former teammate seemed concerned about his family as he hoped that everything was okay within the Durant household.

Well, as of now, not much is known about the family matter, which will be holding back the forward for these two massive games, but hopefully it’s nothing too serious. Nonetheless, while Kevin Durant takes care of his loved ones, the Rockets will be hoping they can get two great results in his absence. But, how will they fare against Phoenix and Golden State? And who’ll fill in for their superstar?
