Greg Biffle’s life had a very simple rule: win races for a living and spend those winnings on everything you love. In fact, Biffle wanted anything and everything that had motors. His garage included vintage cars, motorbikes, planes, helicopters, boats, and yachts. So when a relic of his life showed up on the internet, people couldn’t help but express their sadness and regret over his untimely death.

Reportedly, his yacht, Checkered Past, remains on sale for a whopping $4.39 million.

According to a worker inside the marina office, the yacht belongs to the Biffle estate and remains for sale. The 112-foot yacht is tied to a dock at its longtime Daytona Beach home and reportedly went on sale a year or more ago. Biffle bought the boat in 2022 and kept it at his previous home in Fort Lauderdale. Back when he bought the boat, he confessed his love for water and vessels to yacht broker Denison Yachting. In fact, he had some very touching words for Checkered Past.

“I never thought I’d be able to buy one,” he said. “This is truly the boat.”

Biffle grew up along the Columbia River near Vancouver, Washington, and has been an active boater ever since. He bought his first boat at just 16-years-old and had previously owned a 76-foot boat called In Too Deep.

But Checkered Past is one of its kind. As per its official listing on Fraser Yachts, the beauty was built in 1999 and refit in 2014. It can host up to eight guests in four cabins, with space for four crew members. The model of the yacht is among the most sought-after versions, as mentioned on the website.

The fans know that, for Greg, fishing and spending time out in the sea were almost as important as racing. He was an active boater and spent a lot of time fishing. So Checkered Past wasn’t just some whim of his. And that’s a key reason why everyone has been shaken since the details came to light after his family and three friends passed away in a tragic plane crash on December 18, 2025.

Tragic reactions pour out from fans as video of Greg Biffle’s yacht emerges online

A fan, Godwin Kelly, released a video on his personal X account where you can see the Checkered Past standing on the marina with the name still illuminated with neon lights. The caption read, “I saw Greg Biffle’s boat docked at a local marina last night. Apparently, it’s working its way north from the Bahamas. Very sad.”

Some people were quick to point out that the yacht was sitting on the docks for a rather long time, ultimately revealing that the yacht is indeed on sale. “That’s where it’s always been…. It’s been for sale by Denison Yacht Sales for several years..around $4M.”

Biffle has had many fishing trips and family vacations on the yacht. However, as is the case with any big vessel, it was put on sale. Since then, it has been waiting for someone to take it off the marina. Then others immediately connected the scene to the nature of life.

“It’s like Ozymandias, the sands of time wash away your legacy sooner or later,” said one of the fans. Certainly, it’s only been two weeks or so since Biffle and his entire family passed away in the fatal plane crash, and now details of his estate being on sale are making the rounds. While it is hurtful, it is also the biggest reality of life.

Another person chimed in, emphasizing the importance of living one’s life without regrets. “Goes to show, life is all about living, because all you leave behind is ‘Stuff’.” That’s what Biffle did. He had multiple ways to enjoy his life after retirement, but he also made sure that he gave others just as much. His various foundations and works during Hurricane Helene are examples of where his heart always was.

Some fans couldn’t help but remember the terrible resemblance between the deaths of both Greg Biffle and Dale Earnhardt. “#Do it for Dale and be like Biff. RIP brother. You will be missed.” Indeed, NASCAR and the community of stock car racing lovers are not going to forget the horrific incident that took place in both the Earnhardt and the Biffle families.

The private plane that crashed was also registered in the name of Greg Biffle himself. The nature of the accident was severe, as summed up correctly by one user, “This entire thing broke my heart. What a tragedy. Such good people and those children.”

According to his friend and YouTuber, Garrett Mitchell, also known as Cletus McFarland, the seven passengers aboard the Cessna C550 were flying to him for an early birthday and holiday celebration. Biffle would’ve turned 56 on December 23. However, after facing technical issues within ten minutes of takeoff, the plane was bound for a return. During their emergency landing, the plane crashed into the Statesville grounds and burst into flames.

The seven victims in the crash included Biffle, his wife, Cristina, his 5-year-old son, and Biffle’s daughter from another marriage, Emma (14). Additionally, Dennis Dutton and his son Jack, with pilot Craig Wadsworth, a member of the NASCAR community, were also present. Now, all that’s left of him are his holiday cards that his friends are still receiving, his legacy, and fans’ wishes to honor him.
