With the conclusion of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the list of players entering the DP World Tour Championship has been finalized. Back at the Yas Links, 72 golfers went toe-to-toe to qualify for a chance to play at the Jumeirah Golf Estates’ Earth Course in Dubai. However, after the final lineup was released, some big names were missing. And one of the most notable among them is surely Jon Rahm, who ended his season at 57th place in the Race to Dubai rankings.

However, after going winless for the first time in his career, Rahm decided to end his campaign prematurely and take an extended 4-month break. Now, despite one of the biggest LIV golfers missing from the DP World Tour action, there are still some big names competing.

3. Tyrrell Hatton
Hatton has emerged as one of the archrivals of Rahm in recent times. While Rahm has found himself struggling this year, Hatton made sure that he took the opportunity to elevate his ranks further. In one of the biggest highlights of the season, the 34-year-old equaled Rahm’s record of winning five Rolex Series titles as he beat Dan Hillier by a stroke to clinch the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Thankfully for his fans, Hatton has kept up the good work as he shone bright at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Coming in at Day 3, he made two eagles and two birdies in his first four holes. Moreover, the English golfer started off proceedings by getting eight shots off the lead.

But soon, he made incredible progress to bridge the gap by covering the first four holes in six under par to make a strong statement. Thus, with such a strong showing, it looks like Hatton is well prepared for the DP World Tour Championship. And fans will be eager to find out what happens next.

2. Patrick Reed
Another big name from LIV Golf making his entry to the DP World Tour Championship is Patrick Reed. With the LIV Golf witnessing its very first four-way playoff, it was Reed who dramatically came in to clinch the title.
En route to his victory, he beat the likes of Jinichiro Kozuma, Louis Oosthuizen, and Paul Casey. Needing just one hole to seal the victory with a birdie, Reed earned his maiden LIV Golf win. This was incidentally also his first professional win in four years.

1. Tom McKibbin
Just a week ago, Tom McKibbin secured his ticket to the Masters by emerging triumphant at the Hong Kong Open. Signing with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf last year, it was a tough task for the Northern Irish phenom to be back at the Augusta National. However, this year, the criteria for the Masters were updated. Now, six national opens have been designated where the winner can earn an invitation.
The golfer led the tournament from start to finish. He went wire-to-wire, shot 63, and crushed a group of strong competitors by seven strokes. Following such an impeccable performance, he said, “I played some of the best golf I’ve probably ever played. With a tournament with so much history behind it and great players that have won the tournament, to have the scoring record is pretty special.” With the Hong Kong Open win, McKibbin secured his third win as a professional following his victory at the 2022 Minor League Golf Tour event and the 2023 Porsche European Open on the DP World Tour.
Do you think a LIV golfer will win this week in Dubai? Who are you going to be rooting for?
