British golfer Mel Reid has gone through a lot in her career. Despite being one of the frontline golfing entities in today’s world, Reid’s past has always been wrapped in grief, sorrow, and darkness. Back in 2012, the British golfer was swinging her club at the German Masters. And just like any other day, Reid was excited to know that her parents were en route to watch her play. But what followed immediately after was no less than a nightmare for Reid.

In the most shocking turn of events, Reid’s parents’ car met with an accident. An accident so fatal that it led Mel to lose her mother, Joy Reid, on the spot. Suffering from a head-on collision from the impact of the accident, Joy did not survive the impact. She was a constant source of support towards Mel by often visiting to witness her game; the demise left a lasting impact. Having to continue her golfing journey without her mother, Mel cited herself as a ‘golfing robot.’ While she gradually grew out of that phase, the winter of 2025 once again came with some sombre news.

Just a couple of weeks back, Reid’s father, Brian, too, left his earthly abode, leaving Mel and her family to mourn. While no other updates have been provided on the details of Brian’s death, Mel recently took to her Instagram and posted a series of pictures. The opening snap in the carousel showed Brian fixing Mel’s dress like a loving father. Next up, she had pictures of her father with her son and also him enjoying himself at several golfing events.

She expressed her gratitude towards all of her fans and close ones who took the time to extend their condolences. Captioning the post, Mel wrote, “It’s been just over 2 weeks since my Dad passed, and I want to share how grateful I am for all the messages, flowers, and check-ins. It’s hasn’t gone unnoticed and I have truly felt all the love. Gonna keep this short and say….. I will forever miss my favourite human 💔”

Immediately, a string of reactions followed in her comment box. Apart from fans and well-wishers comforting the pro-golfer, the likes of Jessica Korda, Charley Hull, and Lydia Ko also chimed in with their tributes.
