In his latest Instagram story, Im just shared a picture of his wrist in braces. He didn’t include a caption or add any other details. As such, it’s unclear whether the picture is recent or from a few weeks ago.

This comes as a surprise as Im was doing alright a couple of weeks ago. He was seen practicing at an indoor venue. He had also attended an M.C. the Max concert in Seoul, South Korea, as a part of the 2025-26 M.C the MAX ISU Concert ‘Wintering’ tour on New Year’s Day. On both occasions, Im’s wrist seemed fine.

Im had also been heavily linked with a move to LIV Golf recently. As Scott O’Neal & Co. were trying to build a Korean team, they were scouting him and Si Woo Kim to join their roster. However, as per reports, Im rejected the proposal and shut any doors for a move.

But now that he is possibly injured, his PGA Tour return is also in jeopardy. With no updates about how severe the injury might be, it’s uncertain whether he will play The American Express 2026 or take a few weeks off before finally making his season debut.

Will Sungjae Im recover before his trip to the West Coast?

Sungjae Im had an excellent 2025 season. He didn’t win any PGA Tour events, but was still one of the top performers among his peers. Im secured three top-10 finishes, including a third place in The Sentry and a T5 finish in The Masters Tournament.

The impressive run helped him secure a critical position in the FedEx Cup rankings. Im finished 27th in the TOUR Championship. That helped him make the field for all Signature events, The PLAYERS Championship, the Masters, the U.S. Open, and the Open Championship.

However, considering his wrist injury, he might end up missing the first couple of Signature events of the season. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will be played from February 12-15, 2026. It will be immediately followed by the Genesis Invitational a week later. After working so hard to finish 27th in the FedEx Cup last year, Im would be eager to play both those events. Hopefully, he will recover by then.
